Travel assistance glossary
The fine-print terms, explained in plain language.
Travel assistance
A service that solves the problem on the spot and coordinates care with local providers. It's not insurance: it doesn't reimburse you afterward, it assists you now.
Travel insurance
A property-coverage contract: you pay, get care, and then claim reimbursement per the policy's conditions.
Voucher
Proof of your coverage, with your ID number and emergency phone numbers. Keep it handy throughout the trip.
Pre-existing condition
An illness or condition you already had before purchasing coverage. It's excluded unless you buy the corresponding add-on.
Waiting period
The time that must pass from issuance before a coverage takes effect.
Deductible
The amount or percentage that stays on you before the coverage starts paying.
Medical repatriation
Transferring the patient to their country of residence when their condition requires it, coordinated and covered by the assistance.
PIR (Property Irregularity Report)
The airline's baggage irregularity report. It's the document without which you can't file a luggage claim.
Multi-cause cancellation coverage
An add-on that broadens the reasons for which you can cancel a trip and recover what you paid.
Schengen Area
The European zone of free movement. Its Visa Code requires minimum medical coverage of EUR 30,000 with repatriation for those applying for a visa; Argentine citizens enter visa-exempt as tourists.
